Launched in San Francisco in 2009 by two brothers, Tyler and Bracken King, Less Annoying CRM set out with a clear mission: to develop easy-to-use, affordable CRM software. The platform hired its first employee in 2011 and reached its first 1,000 users one year later.

Today the company, now based in St. Louis, has more than 23,000 users. Less Annoying CRM employs a team of fewer than 20 people and caters only to small businesses. It’s an enterprise funded solely by its founders, not investors or larger third-party businesses. The company stands out for its simple, no-nonsense approach: It provides only the CRM tools that small business owners need and understand, and it charges a flat fee of $15 per user, per month for access to all of its products and services.

To give back to the tech community, Less Annoying CRM offers a summer coding and programming fellowship geared toward underrepresented people in the industry, like women and African Americans. In 2017, Less Annoying CRM was named the Best Place to Work in St. Louis for Young Professionals by the St. Louis Business Journal.

What do you like best about Less Annoying CRM?

We are truly amazed at how easy and intuitive it is to use Less Annoying. The confusion is because it’s hard to understand why other platforms have proven to be so difficult for most of our people to use on a regular basis.

As we continue to learn to utilize all of the tools of the platform, members of our team expanded their daily use – in the past on other platforms it was difficult to get them to even open it up. Thank you!

Onboarding is awesome. They have training chunked out nicely plus you have access to live people for assistance. These are professionals who do far more than regurgitate talking points. They work through solutions with you.

The interface itself is easy and intuitive. You can create groups, which is similar to tagging in other CRM solutions. You have the ability to add custom fields, which allows for a high level of customization.

The pipeline also allows for additional custom fields and as many steps as you need for your sales process. I love how simple it is to customize the pipeline, yet the overall structure is still easy to use.

It’s completely customisable, we are a professional consultancy and sales is a dirty word, we are able to change the language to suit our environment and still demonstrate a pipeline. It’s very intuitive so you don’t need additional resource to make it work for you.

The flexibility to create your own fields and pipelines; resulting in being able to have the information you need and want, and not having fields you don’t use. Tasks and the ability to link them to contacts and the ability to allocate them to other people. Easy reporting.

What do you dislike about Less Annoying CRM?

While the rest of my team does not miss the tools, I think the one thing that I am hopeful you will add is the connection to the Internet to pull in data about prospective partner companies.

My biggest complaint is that you must use PieSync to integrate with any email autoresponder other than MailChimp. Unfortunately PieSync is more limited than Zapier, as well as not having a free level.

No downsides. I would like to be able to download email addresses of linked people to a project.

Some of my tasks are weekly or monthly but there is not a recurring task facility so I need to edit the task date to the next required date once I have completed each week/month. A minor grumble but hopefully something that can be added in the future.

I am looking forward to the day that we can integrate pictures and geotagging. I really can’t say I don’t like anything because LACRM is very customizable and easy to use.

What problems is Less Annoying CRM solving and how is that benefiting you?

EVERYONE ON OUR TEAM IS USING IT!

I’ve tried a variety of solutions before sticking with LACRM. The solution is dead simple to use. I can very easily find my contacts, sort them, and keep track of communications. The pipeline tool is easy and forced me to think through the different stages.

It’s allowing us to gather information on proposals and projects at source enabling us to develop project experience lists really easily. This has historically been a real pain to retrospectively gather information on something that has passed. It allows everyone to see the value of the information they have been asked to put in.

Communication for our team members as we all work remotely; we can all see what stage a contact is at within the pipeline at any time. Sharing tasks; we can all view each other’s tasks and assist each other when needed.

Pros

“Recommend this to anyone, glad I stumbled upon a US News and World Report that said it was among the best out there, because after using it now for years in multiple career stops I agree.”
“If they say they are going to get an answer, they’ll get an answer and get right back to us. They are incredibly patient, eager to help and cheerful.”
“What we loved most about LACRM is how easy it was to learn and how easy it is to use.”
“Great free training to use the LACRM and a brilliant business tool.”

Cons

“But I finally got fed up with all of the technical issues, complexity, and traditionally terrible support. The final straw was trying to load it on a new computer.”
“No email integration and somewhat limited reporting customization options.”
“Logging interactions with clients and contacts in the CRM meant no more emailing back and forth with our small team, the information was there if anyone wanted it.”
“As with all changes, the learning curve was the only obstacle, but the LACRM team was always an email or phone call away if we needed assistance.”

Pricing and Setup

Less Annoying CRM aims for simplicity and this reflects the product’s straightforward pricing. There is only one plan priced at $15 per user per month. The plan includes unlimited contacts. There’s a full-featured, 30-day trial that is easily accessible and does not force you to enter payment information. Less Annoying CRM is the most reasonably priced CRM option in our roundup and only Online Sales Review (by way of its all-inclusive Zoho One licensing scheme) is cheaper. Unlike Zoho One, which requires all employees of a business to subscribe to the plan, Less Annoying CRM makes no such demands.
