What is Nutshell?

Nutshell is an all-in-one CRM and email marketing platform that helps B2B organizations work together to win more deals. Simple enough for any user and sophisticated enough for any business, Nutshell is for teams who are tired of juggling separate sales and marketing tools and don’t want to pay a full-time admin to manage their software. Every Nutshell subscription comes with unlimited CRM contacts, data migration assistance, and world-class live support, all at an extremely affordable price.

Nutshell integrates with the software small businesses already use, including Google Workspace/Gmail, Microsoft Office/Outlook, QuickBooks Online, Intercom, and Slack. Nutshell also offers native iPhone and Android apps, allowing sales reps to create, search, and edit contact information while in the field.
Launched in 2010, Nutshell serves thousands of businesses around the world and has been named a top CRM for both user-friendliness and affordability. Nutshell has been honored as a “Leader” in G2’s Grid® Report for CRM every quarter since Fall 2020.

In 2021, Nutshell released Nutshell Marketing, which allows Nutshell customers to design and send beautiful marketing emails and automated drip sequences, and instantly measure their engagement, directly out of Nutshell. Nutshell Marketing seamlessly connects to your CRM data, so you can target custom audiences in a snap and manage all your outreach out of a single tool.

What do you like best about Nutshell?

I love how Nutshell is layed out. It is Professional and easy to customize.

The interface is very user friendly and easy to use.

Makes the training and onboarding process very smooth for our salespeople.

Easy to segment leads and track activities.

Great dashboard options for us to track our pipeline and sales stage.

Everything we need to drive sales performance.

I’ve used a number of the “leading” CRMs in my career, and Nutshell is far and away the most accessible and intuitive system that I’ve used. I never feel as though I’ve had to give up any of the integrations and connectivity that I was used to, but whether on the mobile app or the webapp, Nutshell just works without drama or complexity.

Frankly, I like the service best. I know that raises an eyebrow because it makes people wonder, “Why does he need to contact customer service if the product is so great?”. That’s a legit question but it doesn’t mean the product is not great. A good CRM platform is going to be deep and wide and have a lot of functionality that takes a bit of time to learn. I’ll admit, I’m not the fastest learner of CRM tools, so once in a while, I ask the team for pointers or help sorting out issues that in most cases I’ve screwed up myself. In every single case, Nutshell’s customer service was immediately available and very happy to help me. They constantly go above and beyond.

The hardest part about CRMs for us in the past was the buy in from our sales team. The complexity and design just never inspired them to see it as the “source of truth” we hoped for. Not with Nutshell. Our team enjoys using it, finds it simple to navigate and as a result they actually use it!

What do you dislike about Nutshell?

I use Nutshell on my iPhone, and it needs a serious revamp. I also use the web version on my Ipad Pro, and it’s fantastic. When I receive calls on my iPhone, my contacts don’t show who is calling in when they are in Nutshell. It would be very professional if that could work. I’d love to see a Dashboard on the iPhone that is useful. Show my appointments, activities and tasks for the day.

Not much we dislike here at Brigil. Maybe the reporting aspect could be expanded for us to better track the outcomes of our activities.

Maybe push out more fixed fields compared to text fields in the lead forms.

The dilema as I understand is also managing complexity vs simplicity in adding new features

There is certainly less configurability and customization than with other CRMs, but I’m part of a SMB with fairly limited requirements around customization. At some scale, I suppose we’d need the “ecosystem” capabilities afforded by the leading CRMs, but Nutshell is perfect for our SMB (and I’d assume most others).

Not much.

I would like the customizable dashboard to be just a bit more customizable. Right now, there are about 5-6 widgets, but there could be more.

Sales automation is very capable but needs more tutorials and help getting it going.

What problems is Nutshell solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have a large customer with numerous locations. I have to account for them all during the year to ensure I’ve inspected them. Nutshell gives me the ability to do that in a visual way using maps. Customer service showed me some enhancements to improve my daily processes.

Pros

“The platform has a good independent incorporation system, so that you can start working in the shortest possible time.”
“Everything was really great. From the sales, through deployment, and ongoing support.”
“One of my favorite parts of this system is how easily editable everything is. Seems simple, but being able to adjust notes and basic information on the home screen makes things very simple.”
“I’d say my experience overall is good. I like how simple it is to create things.”

Cons

“Also, the loss of historical record of communication for a Contact when you delete an old email is problematic. We are forced to retain all of these old emails and this can create confusion.”
“Our sales staff was apprehensive at first as there were lots of bells & whistles and a little worn out with the previous jumps from one CRM to the other.”
“I think more training on set up, warnings issued at set up and common pitfalls at set up would avoid harmful bulk uploads making irreversible upload mistakes.”
“Data uploads can be catastrophic if not done correctly.”
